Get a jump start on Bhutan's busy spring travel season with this early March departure to experience the "Procession of Warriors," a rare celebration of the kingdom's martial past, alongside the more familiar Buddhist mask dances of the Himalayas. From the western valleys of Paro, Thimphu and Punakha this active adventure takes you cross-country to the beautiful central regions of Bumthang where we explore a network of hidden valleys. We close our journey with a scenic mountain flight back to Paro and a final hike up to spectacular Tiger's Nest!

The Pazaap warriors of Punakha in western Bhutan have long been charged with the protection of the holiest relics in the land. It is a duty they have fulfilled for centuries with great pride an honor. The springtime Punakha Serdra festival celebrates their contributions to the history of Bhutan and the protection of some of the rarest cultural treasures in the land.
The event which takes place within the walled amphitheaters of one of the most beautiful dzongs (monastery-fortresses) in Bhutan is a visual feast bringing together farmers, nobility, spiritual teachers and the lucky travelers who get to be our guests. Join us on this spectacular journey and bring home some unforgettable memories of the vibrant, living culture of Bhutan.

Admire the massive peaks of the Eastern Himalaya as we fly into Paro ● Wander the colorful streets of Paro, and visit nearby temples set amid bucolic rice fields.
Explore the museums and markets of the modern capital Thimphu ● Hike to beautiful Tango monastery, on a mountain slope above the capital.
Ascend the high scenic pass at Dochu-La and take the spiraling road into Punakha, home to tranquil fields and terraces, a beautiful and historic dzong, and the confluence of two important rivers. Hike fertile Punakha basin ● Attend the spectacular festival of warriors.
Enjoy the colorful closing day at the festival or, alternately, explore the surrounding countryside or do a little bit of both!
Drive over the dramatic high pass of Pele La to Trongsa with views of surrounding mountain ranges. Visit Trongsa Dzong, one of the longest fortresses in the country ● Continue the drive to Jakar valley and check in at our superlative family lodge.
Explore the lovely valleys of Bumthang, a network or hidden and bucolic villages clustered around some of the oldest, best preserved temples in the entire Himalaya.
Take the dramatic half-hour mountain flight to Paro. ● Hike to the famous cliff-side of Taktshang or “Tiger's Nest” Monastery. Explore downtown Paro for last-minute gifts before a traditional farewell feast ● Transfer back to the airport for your departing flight from Paro.
