Tashi is a steady presence on most of our journeys. His outwardly serious demeanor hides a suprisingly wry sense of humor. Scratch the tough exterior and the fun guy emerges, announced by a smile that’s like the sun peeking out from behind dark clouds. In fact, there was an inside betting game among Bhutan Himalaya staff to see how quickly a group can crack Tashi’s smile! Tashi came to us from long years of guiding with the Bhutan Tourism Corporation Limited. His usual missions involve managing intricate logistics of our trips while keeping a sharp eye on discipline, morale and the well-being of the crew. Like the others on our team, Tashi has been trekking in the Bhutan Himalaya for a long time--he began his career supporting film and nature research expeditions, and later he became an expert outdoors guide for the tourism corporation, before joining team Bhutan Himalaya Expeditions. Today, he is a fun, reliable, and respected part of our operations.
