VILLAGE LODGE, PARO
The Village Lodge in Paro: a locally-owned property bordered by rice fields
This lodge in Tsendona, a small village near Paro's town center, is surrounded by fertile rice fields, and looks out toward the Paa-chhu river. Built in the traditional style from locally sourced materials, it features wooden balconies, scalloped windows, and sloping roofs. Hand-carved wood beams and posts give it a rustic, authentic feel.
Thick mud walls in the rammed-earth style, augmented by hand-painted murals, impart a warm and cozy atmosphere to the interiors. The rooms and suites offer views of the rice fields, the river, the surrounding valley, and the mountains. The restaurant serves Bhutanese and international fare, and there’s a bar, a library, a gift shop, and a spa offering massages by appointment. Guests can take a short walk down the valley to one of Bhutan’s oldest stupa temples, the uniquely cone-shaped Dumtseg Lhakhang. As at most other Bhutanese lodges, Wi-Fi connection is complimentary.

Thank you for supporting a locally-owned business!
At Bhutan Himalaya Expeditions we offer a carefully curated selection of Bhutanese-owned lodges around which we build most of our trips. We believe our business supports the hopes and dreams of our homegrown Bhutanese entrepreneurs and entities whose success is vital to the strength and resilience of Bhutan's economy. Such businesses are often family-owned and operated so your journey makes a big difference in supporting the livelihoods of Bhutanese people, including the workers, farmers and producers who supply the lodges and provide the lodge's guest services.
